Juniors Taekwondo

Bill Cho's United Taekwondo Center's goal is to help your child and our student develop a Black Belt Attitude - "I will never give up!". More importantly though, for parents of kids, we focus on helping parents instill the life skills and values inherent in the martial arts. These include confidence, self-control, perseverance, respect, pride, courtesy and indomitable spirit.

Our children's program is an introduction to basic martial arts skills. Most importantly for your child in this stage of life, we teach body awareness, balance, gross motor skills, and social interaction.

We know that as Black Belts, we have a huge influence on and responsibility with your children and so we use this influence to teach safety skills as well.  Stranger Awareness and many other areas we feel are important for your children to be aware of.

Children here have the opportunity to earn additional awards through excellent behavoir and tasks at home and at school.  When your child bring his/her "Task Coupon" to the next class, we will award him/her with stripes or merit badges to reward them for their effort.

Our Formula is Simple.

Self- Discipline + Self-Defense = Self-Confidence

and

Self-confidence = Success and Happiness

If that seems easy, it's not! You see, by teaching children self-discipline and self-defense, children become empowered with the two most important tools they need to build confidence. With confidence, children will succeed and find happiness in life.

We begin with Self-discipline. We help our children develop self-discipline through our unique 3-step process.

Step 1 Understanding it : Through class discussions and stories our instructors teach our children the meaning and benefit of having self-discipline.

Step 2 Practice it : During classes, our instructors help children to face and overcome challenges, soon they start to discipline themselves and begin to achieve on their own.

Step 3 Apply it : Once our children successfully develop self-discipline in our school thyey begin to use it on the outside in everything they do, such as school and sports.

The truth is, Self-Discipline is the key to success because if you never quit you will eventually cross the finish line, just like the story of the Tortoise and the Hare.

While teaching self-discipline, we also teach our children the art of self-defense. Never undervalue this important life skill. Children today face more bullies and negative peer pressure to take drugs and alcohol than at any time in our history. This is why at Bill Cho's United Taekwondo Center; we teach a realistic self-defense system so children learn to defend themselves in virtually any situation. They also learn conflict resolution and when they should and shouldn't use their skills.

Studies have shown that

Children who learn self-defense become more assertive and less aggressive

Children who know how to defend themselves usually don't have to, because they carry themselves in a more confident manner, and confidence alone is a deterrent to bullies.

Being Self-Confident means
- your child believes in himself / herself.
This is easy to do when your child has

The self-discipline to achieve goals

The self-defense skills to back him/her up so he/she doesn't have to feel intimidated to stand up for what he/she believes.

These are just a few of the challenges children face today. Combine these with a decrease in school gym classes; it's easy to see why weight problems and obesity among children have more than doubled in our country in the last twenty years.

We help children develop a healthy mind and body, so they have the energy and fitness to face life's challenges, and succeed.

If this sounds like serious stuff? Don't Worry! Our children's classes are taught in a safe, fun and exciting environment, where students are not compared to each other, but rather progress at their own  pace (their personal best). The competition is "from oneself to oneself"
